Terms of Service
Last Updated:
These Terms of Service are a fictional document created for the ToolBench project. They are not legal advice and are not intended to constitute a legally binding agreement.
1. What ToolBench Is
ToolBench is a student-run educational organization platform.
It may provide:
- Homework information
- Resources
- Educational tools
- Announcements
- Snack Collector assignments
- Account settings
It is not a replacement for official school systems.
It is also not your teacher.
2. Accounts
You are responsible for your account.
You must not:
- Share your password
- Use another person's account
- Attempt to access another person's account
- Attempt to bypass authentication
- Attempt to exploit website vulnerabilities
- Pretend Developer Tools made you an Administrator
Opening DevTools does not grant administrative privileges.
We checked.
3. Homework
Users may create or edit assignments where permitted.
ToolBench does not guarantee that every assignment is:
- Correct
- Complete
- Current
- Due on the displayed date
- Emotionally prepared to ruin your evening
Verify important academic information through the appropriate source.
4. Assignment Completion
You may mark your own assignments as completed.
Completion is personal to your account.
You: ✅ Complete
Friend: ❌ Not Complete
You cannot defeat homework through database synchronization.
5. Resources
Users may add educational resources where permitted.
Do not intentionally add:
- Malware
- Phishing links
- Harmful files
- Spam
- Fake resources
- A Google Doc containing nothing but "LOL"
6. Tools
ToolBench may provide links to third-party educational websites.
Those services may change their availability, pricing, features, or requirements.
If your favorite calculator disappears overnight, please direct your emotional response toward its owner.
7. Snack Collector
Snack Collector assignments are generated using a rotation system designed to distribute assignments fairly.
The system considers historical assignments and recent participation.
Authorized users may manually change assignments.
Therefore, if you were assigned:
Tuesday — Snack Collector
the appropriate response is:
"Understood."
Please bring the snacks.
8. Automatic Generation
Automatic generation may create one school week of Snack Collector assignments.
The system attempts to distribute assignments fairly.
It does not predict whether you will conveniently "forget."
9. Management Permissions
Editors and Administrators may have additional permissions.
These may include managing:
- Assignments
- Resources
- Announcements
- Tools
- Snack Collector assignments
- User profiles
Administrators may additionally manage account roles.
Powerful buttons should be treated with respect.
Especially the red ones.
10. Deleting Things
Some management actions permanently delete information.
Before deleting something, ToolBench may ask:
"Are you sure?"
This question is not decorative.
If you click:
DELETE
and immediately experience regret, ToolBench cannot provide emotional compensation.
11. User Profiles
Users may have profiles containing a display name and profile picture.
Do not intentionally impersonate another person.
Changing your display name to:
Definitely Not Alex
while using Alex's account does not make the situation less obvious.
12. Security
Attempting to compromise ToolBench, Firebase, user accounts, or connected systems is prohibited.
- Bypassing authentication
- Modifying unauthorized data
- Stealing credentials
- Abusing security rules
- Circumventing role permissions
Repeatedly pressing buttons until something breaks is also discouraged.
13. Availability
ToolBench is provided on an "as available" basis.
Sometimes everything works.
Sometimes something does not.
Sometimes:
"It worked five minutes ago."
This is a website. Not a divine prophecy.
14. External Services
ToolBench may depend on Firebase, Google services, and third-party educational tools.
If an external service experiences an outage, ToolBench may also be affected.
Staring at the website will not make Firebase come back faster.
15. Changes to ToolBench
ToolBench may add, remove, redesign, rename, reorganize, or otherwise modify features.
A button that exists today may not exist tomorrow.
A button that did not exist yesterday may suddenly appear.
A button may even become purple.
Nobody knows.
16. Account Restrictions
Authorized Administrators may restrict or remove access from accounts that violate these Terms.
Getting a bad grade is not, by itself, a violation of these Terms.
We checked.
17. The Homework Clause
ToolBench cannot guarantee that using ToolBench will improve your grades.
It can, however, make a reasonable attempt to make you aware of the homework.
What you do with that information is between you, your teachers, and your questionable time-management decisions.
18. Final Agreement
By using ToolBench, you acknowledge that you will:
- Use the website responsibly.
- Respect other users.
- Protect your account.
- Not abuse your permissions.
- Not intentionally compromise the system.
- Understand that deleted information may be permanent.
- Take Snack Collector assignments seriously.
- Eventually do your homework.
The final clause cannot be technically enforced.
Unfortunately.
